Cash for Honours: a cover-up or protecting evidence from contamination?

The BBC is reporting that an injunction has been obtained against it by the Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith, to "stop it broadcasting an item about the cash for honours investigation"; one imagines that whatever the story was it was to have been broadcast on Friday night either on the 10pm news on BBC1 or on Newsnight on BBC2 at 10.30pm. I daresay we will come to know soon enough what the item was, but I hope the explanation lies more in the area of the speculation contained in the second part of the above post title, not the first part. My [lack of] confidence in the current government, well, it makes me wonder.

See later post here for an UPDATE on this affair.

See another later post (Monday 05MAR07 18.50 RST) about news that the email was sent by Blair aide Ruth Turner to Chief of Staff and Blair confidant Jonathan Powell and concerned Labour chief fundraiser Lord Levy.
