Islington Council registrar sues to refuse civil partnership ceremonies ...

... naturally claiming that her religious beliefs have been violated because 'she is a devout Christian opposed to gay unions'. In other words the good lady is a bigot and a homophobe!

Now if the UK were a theocracy where the views of crackpots like this woman had the force of law, then this is how it would have to be I suppose. However, the UK is a secular state where Parliament enacts law; laws are not enacted from the pulpit of any church or mosque!

I hope this woman's case will be thrown out for the joke it is and that she will be told, in the politest possible language, to seek other employment if she is not prepared to do the job which the law sanctions and which she is paid to perform.
