No suprise, unfortunately. Force people to become vassals of the state by drugging them with support credits of various kinds and initiative becomes sapped. Unemployment may be low in the UK, but it has been purchased at huge cost - a large increase in the public sector payroll, accompanied by significant tax increases for individuals and specially for business and increasing bureaucracy for all of us, with more to come if this government has its way.
The Scotsman looks at figures drawn from a recent survey carried out by the Department of Work & Pensions.
Read and weep! And think what you can do about it in the next month or so, if Tony Blair does call an election for May.
